About Barbara
Barbara Brown earned both her law degree and an MBA from St. Mary’s University School of Law in the mid-1980s. She completed a J.D. in 1985 with a specialization in Real Estate Law and followed that the next year with an MBA. The two degrees together shaped the early direction of her legal thinking.
She moved into practice after law school and established a career that spans two states. Brown is admitted to practice in Texas and Florida. Over the years she has handled matters that reflect her dual training in law and business.
Her legal work concentrates on real estate matters. That includes transactional work as well as regulatory issues that affect property owners, developers and lenders. She has worked on contracts, closings and compliance questions, and she has navigated disputes that arise from complex property transactions. Her background in business helps when deals require attention to financing, tax implications and corporate structures.
Collegial involvement has been part of her professional life. Since 2016 she has been a member of the board of BAREC. She has also been active in the Clearwater Bar Association since 2012. Those memberships have kept her connected to peers and to developments in local practice and policy.
Brown’s career rhythm mixes client work, association activity and continuing education. She has shown an interest in how legal rules intersect with commercial realities. Client matters have ranged from routine closings to more involved matters that require coordination among lenders, title companies and municipal authorities.
She practices across the jurisdictions where she is admitted and handles matters that cross state lines when necessary. Today she continues to handle real estate transactions and related regulatory matters in Texas and Florida and focuses on matters involving property, contracts and compliance.
