About Babak
Babak Shamsi graduated from Stanford University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology. He went on to earn his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2010. The combination of social science and legal training shaped a measured approach to legal questions and a habit of close legal reading.
After law school, Shamsi moved into practice in Washington. He is an associate at Beresford Booth PLLC, where he has handled a range of tasks typical of a junior litigation attorney. His day-to-day work has included legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, preparing discovery, and advising clients on procedural matters. He has also participated in hearings and client meetings, helping translate complex legal issues into practical steps for clients.
Shamsi belongs to local bar organizations that keep him connected to the bench and bar. He holds memberships in the Snohomish County Bar Association and the King County Bar Association. Those memberships provide regular opportunities to stay current on changes in state procedure and to engage with fellow practitioners across the region.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in the handling of documents and persistent in pursuing factual clarity. He tends to take a granular approach to evidence and is often the person on a team who will read an entire contract line by line to spot issues others have missed. That attention to detail shows up in briefs and in discovery strategies alike.
Outside of case work, Shamsi’s background in political science and psychology informs how he frames disputes. He often considers how parties perceive risk and how procedural choices will shape litigation dynamics. Those perspectives do not substitute for legal doctrine, but they can shape strategy in ways that affect timing and settlement posture.
He works primarily in Washington courts and administrative venues. At Beresford Booth PLLC he works on matters arising under state law and supports senior attorneys on more complex cases. He maintains memberships in county bar associations to stay involved in the local legal community.
Shamsi currently concentrates on matters arising under Washington law at Beresford Booth PLLC.
