About Axel R.
Axel R. Cerny entered the legal field after completing an undergraduate degree in communication and journalism. He earned his B.A. from Liberty University in 2010. Three years later he received his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School. The classroom shaped his approach to courtroom work and client communication.
Cerny began his professional legal career in DuPage County. In 2013 he joined the DuPage County State’s Lawyer’s Office as an assistant state’s lawyer. That early role placed him in court regularly. He handled arraignments, hearings and other trial-related tasks. It also gave him direct exposure to case preparation under real deadlines.
Two years after entering practice he shifted to private practice. In 2015 he became a partner at Antoniolli, Cerny & Winthers, P.C. As a partner he took on a broader mix of responsibilities. He began managing files and advising more junior attorneys. He also helped shape the firm’s daily operations and client intake.
Cerny maintains ties to the professional bar. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the DuPage County Bar Association. Those memberships keep him connected to local court developments and statewide practice issues. They also provide a forum for continuing legal education and peer discussion.
Colleagues describe his courtroom manner as steady. He is familiar with trial routines and the demands of litigation calendars. His years in a county prosecutor’s office inform how he evaluates evidence and prepares witnesses. He brings that practical perspective into firm matters and client conversations.
Outside of court and the office, Cerny’s background in communication and journalism still shows. He places emphasis on clear, direct explanations for clients and on written work that sticks to the facts. That style guides how he prepares pleadings and communicates case strategy.
He practices law at Antoniolli, Cerny & Winthers, P.C., where he represents clients in matters across Illinois. His current practice centers on applying his courtroom experience to client representation and case management.
