About Austin Michael

Austin Michael Lux built his legal foundation in Colorado classrooms before moving into courtrooms. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2013 and a J.D. from the University of Denver in 2016. Those years set the stage for a career that moved quickly into public service and then private practice.

Fresh out of law school, Lux joined Colorado’s 4th Judicial District Office of the District Lawyer in 2016 as a deputy. The position put him inside local trials and behind the scenes of case preparation. He spent those early years gaining courtroom experience and learning how the district office manages criminal matters across a varied docket.

In 2020 he opened The Lux Law Office, PLLC. Turning from a government role to running a small firm required a different set of skills. He handled client intake, case strategy and courtroom representation. Running the firm also meant managing the practical demands of a solo practice: scheduling, client communication and the business side of law.

Lux’s professional memberships reflect the kinds of cases he handles. He joined the DUI Defense Lawyers Association in 2020 and became a member of the National College of DUI Defense in 2021. He also holds membership in the El Paso County Bar Association. Those associations connect him to peers who practice in criminal defense and driving-related matters and provide resources for trial advocacy.

He is licensed by the Colorado Supreme Court and authorized to practice in Colorado. His background includes prosecutorial experience from the 4th Judicial District and subsequent defense work in private practice. That combination gives him a perspective on both sides of criminal litigation and an understanding of courtroom dynamics.

Clients and colleagues describe him as practical and direct in the courtroom. He favors plain language when explaining legal issues and concentrates on the procedural steps that matter most in a case. He maintains a small-firm structure that allows for hands-on involvement in each matter his office accepts.

As owner of The Lux Law Office, PLLC, he continues to handle criminal defense and driving-related cases in Colorado. His current practice focuses on DUI and related defense work at the state and local level.
