About Ashley Lauren
Ashley Lauren Roberts built a steady climb through the ranks of a small Tennessee firm before moving into private practice. She earned her Juris Doctor in 2016 from Lincoln Memorial University’s John J. Duncan, Jr. School of Law after completing undergraduate studies in English and allied language arts at Western Kentucky University, where she received her B.A. in 2006. The path from a liberal arts classroom to a courtroom was practical and deliberate.
Her first formal role in a law office came in 2009 when she joined Breeding & Henry, LLC as a legal assistant. That early exposure to client files, court calendars and the day-to-day mechanics of litigation shaped how she approaches case work today. She returned to the same firm as an associate lawyer in 2016 after finishing law school. The move from assistant to associate gave her continuity and an inside view of how cases are developed over time.
Roberts is licensed to practice in Tennessee. She has worked in the state’s practice environment for the bulk of her career. That local experience includes interacting with clerks, judges and opposing counsel across Tennessee’s courts. She has handled the procedural and substantive demands that come with courtroom practice in the state.
Over the years she has kept ties to professional organizations and maintains current membership in at least one legal association. The memberships have provided periodic professional development and networking opportunities. Those contacts have been useful as she transitioned between roles and sought new responsibilities within firm settings.
In 2026 she is listed with The Barnett Firm. Her background—years in a smaller firm and a return to law study—gives her a practical perspective on case management. She understands the paperwork and the people behind each matter. Her colleagues describe her as steady and methodical in how she prepares filings and manages deadlines.
Her approach to client work favors clarity. She breaks complex procedural steps into manageable tasks for clients and explains the likely course of a case in plain language. She also brings firsthand administrative experience from earlier years in the office, which helps when deadlines tighten and filings pile up.
She currently practices at The Barnett Firm, handling matters arising in Tennessee courts.
