About Ashley L.

Ashley L. Anderson built a legal career that moves between the courthouse and the bench. She studied journalism and political science before turning to law. She earned a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from Southern Methodist University in 2003 and completed her J.D. at Southern Methodist University in 2006.

Her early years in practice were in public service. After law school she joined the Dallas County district attorney’s office as an assistant district attorney in 2006. She handled felony and misdemeanor matters at the trial level. In 2009 she took a similar role in Rockwall County, continuing prosecutorial work and gaining courtroom experience across a range of criminal cases.

That same year she moved into private practice as a criminal defense lawyer. Her switch from prosecution to defense gave her a view of the criminal justice system from both sides. She opened and has operated under the firm name Ashley L. Anderson, Lawyer at Law. Her caseload has included DWI and other criminal matters, and she has represented clients in municipal and county courts.

In 2018 she took on a judicial role as an associate judge for the City of Rowlett. That position added a new dimension to her legal work. It required hearing matters, applying local ordinances and state law, and managing dockets. The judgeship supplemented her litigation background rather than replacing it.

Anderson is active in local and state professional groups. She serves on the board of the Rockwall County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and has been involved with the Rockwall County Bar Association. She also holds membership in the Dallas County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Texas DWI Lawyers Association. These affiliations reflect the areas of law she encounters most often in practice.

Her career record shows time spent as a prosecutor, a defense lawyer, and a municipal judge. That mix has shaped how she approaches cases and courtroom procedure. She practices in Texas and handles criminal defense matters, including DWI and related offenses.
