About Ashley E
Ashley E Lorance built a legal career that combines courtroom experience and mediation training. She began her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a B.A. in Communication Studies in 1999. She went on to Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, receiving her J.D. in 2007. Those academic years laid the groundwork for a practice centered on family matters and dispute resolution.
Her early professional work included a role at Katzenstein and Lorance in 2010, where she handled a variety of family law matters. Over time she added mediation to her toolkit. She earned a Certified Volunteer Mediator credential from Hofstra University School of Law in January 2009. Later, the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission certified her as a Family Financial Mediator in 2017. That credential complements her courtroom work and informs how she approaches settlements and financial issues in family cases.
In 2020 she achieved Board Certification from the NC State Bar as a Family Law Specialist. Board certification marks a distinct professional milestone and reflects sustained practice in family law under the standards of the state bar. She has remained active in bar and professional circles. Her memberships include the N.C. Bar Association and the American Bar Association, both held since 2010. She also served as Chair of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice from 2014 to 2015, a role that involved organizing colleagues and contributing to professional education.
Her practice has moved through private firm settings. She joined King Law Offices as a lawyer in 2023. That placement followed years of handling contested cases, settlements, and mediation sessions across North Carolina. Clients in family law often face financial questions, and her certification as a family financial mediator informs how she frames those issues, whether in negotiations or at the courthouse.
Colleagues describe her as methodical and pragmatic in case preparation and in mediation settings. She applies communication skills developed in college and law school training to manage difficult conversations and clarify complex financial information. Outside of the courtroom she has remained engaged in continuing education and bar activities that keep her current on changes to family law practice.
She currently practices at King Law Offices, concentrating on family law and family financial mediation.
