About Arnold
Arnold Goldstein has practiced law in Illinois for more than six decades. He established his practice in 1963 and has maintained a presence in local bar circles ever since. Over the years he has combined legal training with accounting and tax studies. That mix shapes the work he does today in family law and related financial disputes.
His academic path began at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned a B.A. in economics and political science in 1960. He went on to earn a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 1963. He is also a Certified Public Accountant, a credential he received in 1969, and he pursued tax law studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1985. He holds an M.B.A. from Roosevelt University, which adds another layer to his understanding of business and financial issues.
Goldstein was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1963 and has been an active member of the state bar ever since. He belongs to the Chicago Bar Association and has held membership there since 1963. Locally, he joined the Lake County Bar Association in 2000 and remains involved. He started Goldstein Law Offices the year he left law school and continues to oversee his practice. Over time his work shifted toward family law matters that require attention to financial detail.
Clients and colleagues describe his practice as steady and detail-oriented. His dual training in law and accounting makes him comfortable handling cases that involve business valuations, pension division and tax consequences of settlement terms. He generally works on divorces, support matters and post-judgment enforcement issues where financial complexity is a factor. He has handled matters both in court and through negotiated settlements, and he often prepares the financial exhibits that underpin those resolutions.
He operates under the name Goldstein Family Law and runs a small practice that handles courtroom appearances, negotiations and document preparation. His long career has allowed him to watch changes in family law procedure and tax rules, and he adjusts his practice to reflect current requirements. He now focuses his practice on family law, addressing divorce and the financial disputes that arise from it.
