About Anthony

Anthony Rios built his legal foundation at public universities on both coasts. He earned a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2005 and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2008. Those credentials set a steady course for a career that has moved between public defense and private practice.

He began his career at the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office in 2008. Early work there was trial-oriented and client-facing. In 2011 he took on the role of Forensics Practice Coordinator, a position that added technical and investigative responsibilities to his caseload. The post required him to manage forensic-related issues and to help other defenders understand complex scientific evidence.

After several years in the public defender system, Rios transitioned to private practice. In 2018 he joined Kraut Criminal & DUI Lawyers as an associate. The move put him in a firm environment where he could apply courtroom experience from the public sector to client matters in criminal defense and driving-under-the-influence cases.

Rios is licensed to practice in both Wisconsin and California. He has held membership in The State Bar of Wisconsin since 2008. His career path reflects sustained work on criminal cases, including direct representation at trial and the handling of evidentiary questions tied to forensic science.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation. He is known for parsing technical reports and for raising procedural and evidentiary issues in court. In criminal defense practice, those skills often determine whether contested scientific evidence is admitted and how it is framed to judges and juries.

Outside the courtroom, Rios’s experience in a public defender’s office informs his approach to case evaluation. Years of representing indigent clients gave him exposure to a broad mix of misdemeanor and felony matters. At the firm level he shifted into a setting that regularly addresses DUI matters and related criminal charges.

He continues to handle criminal defense and DUI cases at Kraut Criminal & DUI Lawyers, combining trial experience and forensic knowledge in his current practice focus.
