About Anthony J.

Anthony J. Oliveira built a path to law from a mix of science and business. He earned a B.S. in Biology from Indiana University in 1996. He returned to school for an MBA at Ball State University, finishing in 2003. He completed his legal training at Valparaiso University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2007.

Oliveira was admitted to the Indiana bar in 2008 and is an active member of the Indiana State Bar. He holds admission to practice in the Northern and Southern Districts of the United States District Court for the District of Indiana. Outside courtroom admissions, he has been a member of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association since 2008. He also joined the American Association for Justice in 2016 and remains a member.

Early in his career he combined the analytical habits of a science undergraduate with the organizational perspective of an MBA. The mix informed his approach to case preparation and client counseling. He has since taken cases into Indiana state courts and the federal courts that serve the state. He is comfortable in contested proceedings and in the work that supports trial readiness.

His work has involved litigation that requires attention to procedure, deadlines and evidence. He handles motions, discovery disputes and trial preparation. He represents clients in hearings and trials before judges and juries. Courtroom presence and tactical decision-making are central to how he approaches litigation chores.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in assembling case files and direct in courtroom presentations. He participates in professional groups that keep trial lawyers current on developments in civil procedure and trial practice. Those memberships also provide a network for consultation on complex procedural questions and litigation strategy.

He practices at Dennis, Wenger & Abrell, P.C., where he brings together his legal training and earlier academic work in biology and business. He represents clients in Indiana state and federal courts and continues to handle litigation matters for individuals and organizations in the jurisdictions where he is admitted.
