About Anthony J

Anthony J Muhlenkamp graduated from the University of Missouri–Columbia in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration before earning his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 2003. His path to law followed a steady progression from business studies into legal training. He completed law school at a time when the legal landscape was shifting, and he moved into practice soon after graduation.

Muhlenkamp began his legal career in the early 2000s. He gained courtroom experience and built a practice that spans both state and federal matters. Over the years he has handled criminal matters and other litigation that require familiarity with procedural rules and trial advocacy. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and direct when presenting arguments to judges and juries.

He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Missouri, and he is also admitted to the Eighth Circuit. That combination of admissions allows him to appear in state courts across the region and in federal appeals that touch on issues from multiple districts. He has maintained active participation in bar organizations since the early part of his career.

Muhlenkamp has been involved in professional associations at the local and state level. He served on the Young Lawyers Section Council of the Missouri Bar from 2012 to 2014. Since 2014 he has held the title of Chairman of the Criminal Defense Section for the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. These roles have kept him engaged with peers who practice criminal law and criminal procedure, and they have placed him in the mix for trainings, panel discussions, and committee work focused on defense practice.

He practices from Muhlenkamp & Bernsen, Lawyers at Law, LLC, where he shares office responsibilities with partners and support staff. His work there involves client interviews, motion practice, trial preparation, and appellate filings when necessary. He brings courtroom experience to case strategy and favors clear, concise presentation over ornate briefs.

Outside the courtroom he has continued membership in local and state bar groups since 2003, and he participates in continuing legal education to stay current on evolving case law and statutory changes. He maintains a practice that handles criminal defense and related litigation matters in Missouri, Illinois, and in federal court on the Eighth Circuit.
