About Anne Marie

Anne Marie Segal built an academic path that began in the arts and ended in law. She earned a B.A. in Fine Arts (Photography) from Loyola University Chicago in 1991. She continued her study of the visual arts with an M.A. in Art History from the University of Chicago in 1994. After several years bridging art and critical study, she returned to school and received her J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2000. Those three degrees mark a steady shift from creative practice and scholarship to legal training.

Her legal career began immediately after law school. In 2000 she joined White & Case LLP as an associate. That early period in private practice gave her exposure to large-firm procedures and client representation. She is admitted to practice in New York and in Connecticut, and those jurisdictions have framed much of her subsequent work. Over time she moved between private practice and in-house roles, gaining a range of perspectives on transactional and regulatory tasks common to both settings.

In 2005 she took a position as deputy general counsel at Wexford Capital LP. In that role she served on the legal team for a private investment firm and handled in-house counsel responsibilities. The shift to corporate counsel work expanded her familiarity with internal compliance, contract negotiation and the legal demands of investment management. Her resume shows experience on both sides of the client-attorney relationship: outside counsel in a large law firm and inside counsel for a corporate entity.

She later established the Law Office of Anne Marie Segal, where she practices under her own name. The law office is based in the same region where she holds licensure and continues to handle matters that draw on her background in both private practice and in-house advising. Colleagues and clients see a practitioner who moved deliberately from art history into law and who has since sustained a legal practice that serves individuals and organizations in New York and Connecticut. Her current practice centers on providing legal services to clients in New York and Connecticut.
