About Ann

Ann Brickley trained first as an English major and then at one of the Ivy League law schools. She earned a B.A. in English from Colgate University in 1982 and a J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1987. Those years left a mark on how she approaches cases. Clear writing and careful analysis are evident in the work she does for clients.

She began her legal career the year she finished law school. In 1987 she joined Winthrop Stimson Putnam & Roberts as an associate. That early period gave her hands-on experience in litigation matters and courtroom procedure. It also exposed her to the mechanics of federal practice, an avenue she would later pursue more directly.

In 2010 she established Brickley Law and shifted to running a smaller practice. Around the same time the State of Connecticut appointed her as a Lawyer Trial Referee and named her a Fact Finder and Arbitrator. Those roles have been ongoing since 2010 and reflect a regular engagement with alternative dispute resolution and trial-related duties. She also maintains memberships in a broad set of professional organizations, including the Connecticut Bar Association, the Fairfield County Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

Her admissions cover both New York and Connecticut. She is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and to the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. That range allows her to represent clients in state and federal settings and to handle matters that move between forums.

Her professional affiliations include groups focused on trial work and employment law: the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the Connecticut Employment Lawyers Association, and the National Association of Employment Lawyers. Those memberships, together with her referee and arbitrator duties, shape the kinds of matters she handles. She regularly serves in arbitration and fact-finding panels and accepts trial referrals from the state court system.

Today she practices under the name Brickley Law. The firm operates across state and federal venues and handles litigation, arbitration, and related dispute-resolution work. She currently practices at Brickley Law, handling employment litigation, arbitration, and trial representation in state and federal courts.
