About Angus
Angus Lee attended the University of Washington School of Law beginning in 2001 and earned his J.D. in 2004. His legal education followed earlier service in the military and provided the academic foundation for a career that has crossed roles on both sides of the courtroom.
Before he entered law school, Lee served in the United States Marine Corps as a Force Recon Marine and combat engineer in 1998. That period shaped his early professional life and introduced him to disciplined, mission-oriented work. The shift from uniform to suit was deliberate. He moved from military service into the study and practice of law.
Lee began his public-sector legal career at the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office. He joined as a deputy prosecutor in 2006. Three years later he was named head prosecutor. In that leadership role he handled trial work and supervised prosecutorial functions. The office work exposed him to a broad range of criminal matters and courtroom procedures, and it sharpened his trial skills.
In 2015 Lee changed course and opened the Angus Lee Law Office, where he serves as a defense lawyer. The move from prosecutor to private defense practice is a central theme of his career. He applies courtroom experience gained on both sides of criminal cases to represent clients in state and federal matters. His background gives him familiarity with charging decisions, evidentiary challenges and trial preparation.
Lee is licensed to practice in Washington and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. That combination allows him to handle matters in state courts and to represent clients in federal appellate proceedings when necessary. Over the years he has handled arraignments, preliminary hearings, jury trials and post-conviction matters, developing practical approaches to case assessment and litigation strategy.
Colleagues and clients describe Lee as straightforward in court and methodical in preparation. He favors direct argument and a results-oriented approach to casework. The transition from prosecutor to defense attorney is reflected in how he evaluates cases: he anticipates prosecutorial moves and plans defenses accordingly.
His practice in recent years has centered on criminal defense and related litigation. He operates out of the Angus Lee Law Office, representing individuals in state and federal proceedings and handling matters that range from pretrial negotiations to trial and appellate advocacy.
He now represents clients in criminal defense and related litigation matters at Angus Lee Law Office.
