About Angelique
Angelique Montes studied law at the University of Houston, completing her J.D. in 2009 after beginning law school in 2006. Her academic record laid the groundwork for a career that moves between courtroom procedure, client advocacy and dispute resolution. She is admitted to practice in Texas.
Montes began her legal work before law school ended. In 2005 she worked as an immigration legal assistant at Quan, Burdette, & Perez, P.C., gaining hands-on exposure to case preparation and client intake. In 2007 she served as a legal intern at the Court of Appeals for the First District of Texas, taking in appellate procedure and the mechanics of judicial review. That same year she also interned with the YMCA of Greater Houston International Services, where she worked on immigration-related matters for community members.
After passing the bar, Montes established her own practice. In 2011 she opened the Law Office of Angelique Montes and later maintained a membership at Montes Law Office, PLLC beginning in 2014. Over the years she has combined private practice with volunteer work and professional association involvement. She joined the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 2013 and remains a member. Since 2013 she has also volunteered as an immigration attorney with Neighborhood Centers Inc., offering services in both Spanish and English. In 2014 she began taking pro bono immigration cases through KIND (Kids in Need of Defense), again providing bilingual representation.
Her practice blends immigration work with mediation. Montes holds certifications from the Dispute Resolution Center as a mediator and as a family law mediator. Those credentials inform how she approaches contested matters, encouraging negotiated resolutions where possible while preparing cases for litigation when necessary. Her bilingual ability in Spanish and English is a practical asset in client intake, hearings and settlement discussions.
Colleagues describe her as methodical and thorough in case preparation. Clients have relied on her for immigration applications, removal defense, and family-related immigration issues. She has handled both pro bono and paid matters, reflecting a mix of community service and private representation.
As an attorney based in Texas, Montes continues to balance private practice, volunteer work and alternative dispute resolution. She currently concentrates her practice on immigration law and mediation.
