About Angela
Angela Macey-Cushman combines clinical training and legal education in a career that spans health care and elder law. She earned a B.S. in Nursing and a combined Master of Science in Nursing and Master in Health Administration (MN-MHA) from the University of Washington. She later turned to law, receiving her J.D. from Seattle University. That blend of clinical and legal training informs how she approaches cases and client counseling.
Early in her legal career she moved into areas where health care, capacity and planning intersect. In 2018 she served as an adjunct professor in the Estate & Disability Planning Clinic at Seattle University School of Law. There she worked with law students on matters that included planning for capacity issues, drafting estate documents and addressing disability-related concerns. The clinic role kept her tied to legal education while she continued private practice work.
Macey-Cushman has been active in bar and professional organizations. She is involved with the King County Young Lawyers Division and has served as a trustee there. She holds a seat on the Board of Governors of the Washington State Association for Justice. She also maintains membership in the Washington State Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. Between 2017 and 2020 she belonged to the Washington Academy of Elder Law Lawyers and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, reflecting an ongoing interest in legal issues affecting older adults.
Her professional path reflects an emphasis on clients who face health- and capacity-related legal challenges. The nursing and health administration background gives her a working knowledge of medical systems and terminology. That background is useful when assessing medical records, consulting with providers, or explaining health-care options to clients and their families. She brings that practical perspective to estate planning, guardianship and disability planning matters.
Macey-Cushman is licensed to practice in Washington and is affiliated with the firm Somers Tamblyn Isenhour Bleck, PLLC. Colleagues and former students note her ability to connect clinical facts to legal strategies without resorting to jargon. She balances courtroom and clinic experience, handling transactional planning as well as contested proceedings when they arise.
She practices at Somers Tamblyn Isenhour Bleck, PLLC, where her work centers on elder law, estate and disability planning, and health-care related legal matters.
