Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1975. She also obtained a Diploma in International Law & Relations from the University College of Wales in Aberystwyth, UK, in 1979. During her time at Loyola Law School, she was recognized with the Board of Governor's Award in 2000 for her outstanding contributions to society, the practice of law, and the Loyola Law School community.
Ms. Hawekotte's practice areas include estate planning, probate, tax law, and business law. She has also been involved with the Irish American Bar Association and served as president of the Pasadena Police Foundation from 2007 to 2009. Additionally, she has held positions on the Board of Regents of Mount Saint Mary's University, the Pasadena Rotary Club, the Pasadena Senior Center, and the Governing Board of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
