About Andrew Melchior
Andrew Melchior MacDonald has spent three decades working inside Maryland’s legal system. His career began in chancery hall and courtroom hallways, where the day-to-day contours of litigation and public service are learned early and often. He moved from a court clerkship into a role serving the public, and later into private practice.
MacDonald started as a judicial law clerk in 1995 at the Wicomico County Circuit Court. That position put him close to judges and the mechanics of trial procedure. He handled research, drafted opinions and learned how judges frame decisions. The clerkship offered a clear view of how legal arguments are received at the bench.
In 1996 he joined the Office of the State’s Lawyer for Wicomico County as an Assistant State’s Lawyer. That year marked his transition into public prosecution and government representation. The role required courtroom appearances and preparation under tight timelines. It also meant advising on case strategy and engaging with victims, witnesses and law enforcement. Those responsibilities deepened his practical knowledge of Maryland’s criminal and procedural rules.
A decade later, in 2006, MacDonald took a different path and became a partner at MacDonald Law Office, LLC. In private practice he has handled a variety of client matters and managed the everyday demands of running a small law firm. That work blends client counseling, litigation, and the administrative duties that keep a law office functioning.
Throughout his career MacDonald has remained tied to Maryland practice. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and methodical in preparation. He has brought the perspective of a former clerk and former government lawyer to representation in private practice. Those different roles have shaped how he evaluates evidence and crafts arguments.
His professional journey is marked by a steady progression: from the clerk’s desk to public service, and then to private practice leadership. The timeline speaks to experience across several aspects of the justice system rather than a single specialization. He has worked in the local courts of Wicomico County and maintained a practice in Maryland courts since.
He currently practices law through MacDonald Law Office, LLC, where he handles matters in Maryland state courts.
