About Andrew J.

Andrew J. Thut pursued his legal education at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2012 after completing a B.A. in Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008. Those years set the foundation for a practice grounded in courtroom work and procedural detail. He has been licensed to practice in Illinois and in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

After law school, Thut entered private practice and progressed into roles of increasing responsibility. Over time he joined Levin & Perconti, where he is now a partner. His rise to partnership reflects steady advancement through litigation work and firm practice, rather than a single landmark event. He works within a firm known for handling complex civil matters and participates in the daily demands of case preparation, discovery and motion practice.

Thut’s admitted jurisdictions shape the cases he handles. With credentials to appear in both Illinois state courts and the federal Northern District of Illinois, he routinely files pleadings and appears on motions in both venues. That dual admission allows him to move cases between state and federal forums when the circumstances require it. He navigates rules of procedure and court practice in each of those systems as part of his regular work.

Professional involvement outside the office includes memberships in the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. He maintains those affiliations while practicing at Levin & Perconti. His association memberships provide access to continuing legal education and local professional networks, which support the practice demands of a litigation-focused firm.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in handling the procedural side of litigation and persistent in advancing claims through the necessary stages of adjudication. He spends much of his time drafting briefs, preparing discovery requests, and coordinating with experts when the record requires specialized technical or medical testimony. He engages in courtroom appearances when matters are set for hearings or trials in state and federal court.

As a partner at Levin & Perconti, Thut balances casework with firm responsibilities such as mentoring associates and contributing to case strategy. He currently represents clients in matters brought in Illinois state courts and in the Northern District of Illinois, where his practice centers on civil litigation in those jurisdictions.
