About Andrew J.
Andrew J. Roberto trained as a lawyer in Tennessee and built a career that crosses public service and private practice. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1999. He continued his studies at the University of Tennessee College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2002.
Soon after law school, Roberto moved into roles that combined legal work and public administration. He served as a workers’ compensation specialist for the State of Tennessee in 2004, a position that gave him day-to-day experience with state systems and administrative procedures. That work preceded his entry into private practice and local government.
Roberto became a partner at Brown & Roberto, PLLC in 2008. He has handled a range of matters there, representing clients in state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Those admissions reflect work that spans trial and appellate levels.
His public service continued alongside his legal career. In 2015 he served as a Knox County Election Commissioner. Two years later he was elected as the vice-mayor and council member for Knoxville City Council District 2. Those roles placed him in the center of local policy debates and municipal governance, and required balancing constituent concerns with procedural duties.
Roberto maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association, the Tennessee Association for Justice, the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates, and America's Top 100 Lawyers. These memberships connect him to peers across practice areas and to groups that address both civil justice and veterans’ legal matters.
Colleagues describe his courtroom work as straightforward and practical. He has handled matters in workers’ compensation and civil litigation, and his public roles have informed his perspective on administrative and election-related issues. He has argued cases at the district court level and been involved in matters that reached the Sixth Circuit.
At Brown & Roberto, PLLC he continues to practice law and to participate in local civic life. His practice addresses litigation in state and federal forums and matters related to workers’ compensation and civil claims. He maintains an active practice focusing on litigation and client representation in Tennessee state and federal courts.
