About Andrew DiCarlo
Andrew DiCarlo Berman trained as a historian of law and procedure before he ever walked into a courtroom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Rochester in 1993 and completed his Juris Doctor at Boston College Law School in 1996. Those years set the foundation for a practice grounded in litigation and court work.
He began his legal career in 1996 as an Assistant District Lawyer in Norfolk County. That role put him in front of judges and juries early. Later that same year he joined Boyle Morrissey & Campo as a senior associate, where he handled contested matters and honed courtroom skills. Those early positions established a pattern that would guide the rest of his career: steady courtroom experience paired with practical case management.
In 2001 Berman opened his own practice, the Law Offices of Andrew DiCarlo Berman. Running a small firm required a blend of client work and administrative attention. He took on a range of litigation tasks and managed the business side of the office. Forming his own firm also gave him direct experience in case intake, trial preparation, and client counseling over an extended period.
By 2015 he moved into a leadership role at an established Boston firm when he joined the Law Offices of Russell J. Matson, P.C. as Senior Trial Counsel and chief operating officer. In that position he combined trial responsibilities with oversight of day-to-day firm operations. He supervised litigation strategies, coordinated trial teams, and carried administrative duties tied to staffing and practice workflows. The role reflects an overlap of courtroom practice and firm management rather than a sole concentration in one area.
Berman is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Over the years his work has been shaped by steady courtroom exposure and the practical demands of running a law office. He maintains a practice that blends trial litigation with the operational responsibilities of law firm leadership, handling matters from case strategy through trial and managing the administrative side of a working firm.
