About Andrew
Andrew DeVooght began his legal path in the Midwest. He earned a B.A. from the University of Georgia and then took his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law, graduating with a J.D. in 2000. The combination of a liberal arts background and a law school education in Illinois shaped the early choices of his career.
He launched his post‑graduate work in the federal courts. In 2000 he served as a law clerk to Judge Michael S. Kanne of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Two years later he clerked for Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist of the United States Supreme Court. Those clerkships placed him at the center of appellate and constitutional practice early on and provided the kind of inside exposure to federal litigation that many litigators never see.
After his clerkships he entered private practice as a litigation associate at Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott in 2003. He moved into academia briefly in 2004, serving as a visiting professor at the University of Illinois College of Law. The classroom interlude was followed by a return to large‑firm litigation: in 2006 he joined Winston & Strawn LLP as a litigation partner. He later served as an Assistant United States Lawyer in the Northern District of Illinois in 2010, returning to private practice as a litigation partner at MoloLamken LLP in 2013. In 2015 he became a partner at Loeb & Loeb LLP.
Throughout these moves he maintained ties to professional institutions. He holds membership in the Illinois State Bar and has been active in his law school community, serving on the University of Illinois College of Law’s Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2012 to 2014. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Colleagues describe his work as driven by attention to procedure, appellate strategy, and courtroom preparation rather than by headline‑grabbing motions. His resume shows a steady progression through federal clerkships, complex civil litigation, a stint in the U.S. Attorney’s office in Chicago, and leadership roles at several law firms. He has handled matters that required both trial readiness and appellate briefing, reflecting the mix of skills his early clerkships fostered.
He practices from the offices of Loeb & Loeb LLP and continues to litigate in federal and state courts. His current practice focuses on complex civil litigation and appellate work.
