About Andre Robert
Andre Robert Belanger studied political science and economics at Knox College and graduated with a B.A. in 1997. He moved directly into law school at Loyola University New Orleans, earning his J.D. in 2000. The timeline of his education set a clear path toward courtroom work and appellate practice.
He began his legal career in the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office as an assistant district lawyer in 2000. That early experience put him in court regularly and exposed him to a broad range of criminal matters. In 2003 he joined Regan & Associates as an associate attorney. That same year he became involved with the 23rd Judicial District Court Indigent Defender Board, a role that brought him into the public defense system and deepened his familiarity with trial procedure for indigent clients.
In 2004 Belanger opened the Law Offices of Andre Belanger and began running his own practice. Four years later he became a junior partner at Manasseh, Gill, Knipe & Belanger. Those moves mark a shift from government work to a blend of private practice and firm-based litigation. Over time he built a practice that spans trial work and appellate filings.
Belanger holds admissions to the bar in Louisiana and Mississippi. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect an emphasis on appellate advocacy as well as trial litigation.
Professional associations figure prominently in his career. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College for DUI Defense. He is active in the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and serves on its board. He also maintains membership in the Louisiana Association of Justice. These affiliations indicate sustained engagement with criminal defense networks and continuing legal education in DUI and criminal practice.
Belanger’s practice history crosses public and private lines: prosecutorial work in Orleans Parish, defense work for indigent clients, a solo practice, and partnership at a regional firm. He handles cases at trial and on appeal, and he has litigated in both state and federal forums. He is based in Louisiana and his work often involves criminal defense, DUI matters, and appellate briefs.
He currently practices criminal defense and DUI defense, and he continues to handle appellate work in state and federal courts.
