About Amy
Amy Stikovich earned her B.A. in English and Professional Writing from Cedarville University in 1992. She went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Illinois–Chicago John Marshall Law School in 1996. Along the way she completed mediation training through Northern Community Mediation, adding a formal credential in alternative dispute resolution to her legal education.
Her career in private practice began at Sudekum Cassidy & Shulruff, where she joined as an associate lawyer in 1999. Four years later she moved to Pluymert Piercey MacDonald & Amato, again serving as an associate. Those early years established a routine of handling client work inside regional firms and learning the operational demands of litigation and transactional practice.
In 2006 she struck out on her own and founded Stikovich Legal Counsel, PLLC. As the lawyer-owner she managed client intake, case strategy and the business side of a small firm. That period gave her direct experience running a practice and supervising day-to-day legal work.
In 2020 she joined Nelson Deegan Forster & Stikovich as a partner. The move returned her to a firm environment while keeping an ownership role. Her résumé shows a sequence of associate roles, firm leadership and solo practice. The pattern suggests familiarity with both the pressures of litigation teams and the responsibilities of practice management.
Stikovich is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Michigan. Her mediation training informs how she approaches disputes, whether preparing a case for trial or exploring settlement options. Colleagues and clients who have worked with her describe a lawyer who values clear communication and practical problem solving in case handling.
Across more than two decades of work in private practice, she has taken on responsibilities that range from case preparation and courtroom work to client counseling and firm administration. She has experience shepherding matters through different phases and across state lines where jurisdictional issues apply.
She is currently a partner at Nelson Deegan Forster & Stikovich, PC. She practices at the firm and represents clients in matters arising in both Illinois and Michigan.
