About Amy B. Van
Amy B. Van Fossen built a legal foundation in Florida after completing undergraduate studies at Rollins College in 1996 and earning her J.D. from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2003. Her academic path placed her in the state where she has practiced and maintained membership in local and statewide professional organizations. The chronological arc of her training led directly into practice.
She opened The Law Office of Amy B. Van Fossen, P.A. in 2004 and has served as owner and lawyer since that year. The move into private practice came quickly after law school. Over time she established a small firm structure that handles matters arising from an aging population and the legal needs that often accompany transitions in family caregiving, health care decision-making, and financial oversight.
Her work centers on elder law and related areas. She represents clients in matters that commonly include guardianship and long-term planning for seniors. She also handles veterans benefits work through involvement with the Veterans Benefits Committee of The Florida Bar’s Elder Law Section. That association has informed much of the veterans benefits handling that appears in her casework. She coordinates with social service agencies and other professionals when cases require multidisciplinary input.
Van Fossen’s professional affiliations reflect the subjects that shape her daily practice. She holds memberships in the Brevard County Bar Association, Elder Counsel, the Florida State Guardianship Association, and the Brevard Association of Human Services. She serves on the Board of Club Esteem and on the board of the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation. Those board roles involve governance and program oversight rather than litigation or transactional work, and they connect her practice to community organizations serving older adults and families.
Her presence in the local legal community is marked by steady involvement rather than public-facing litigation headlines. She practices in Florida and maintains memberships in relevant sections and committees that align with elder law and guardianship practice. At her office she counsels families and individuals, helps prepare the legal documents that often accompany aging and incapacity, and assists veterans and their families in pursuing benefits. She continues to manage The Law Office of Amy B. Van Fossen, P.A., where her practice focuses on elder law, guardianship, and veterans benefits.
