About Amanda

Amanda Steenhuis earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville before heading to Cornell Law School for her J.D. Her academic path brought together two different regions and two different legal cultures. At Cornell she completed the core legal curriculum that prepares graduates for licensed practice in multiple jurisdictions.

After law school, Steenhuis took the bar in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. That dual admission has shaped the practical side of her work. It allows her to take on matters that cross state lines and to advise clients on the procedural and substantive differences they face when cases move between neighboring state systems.

She serves as an associate lawyer at Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. In that role she works on client matters handled by the firm’s litigators and counsel. Her duties include legal research, drafting pleadings and briefs, and helping prepare cases for trial and settlement discussions. She also participates in client interviews and case strategy sessions, translating complex legal issues into practical options for clients.

Colleagues describe her as methodical in legal writing and persistent in case development. She brings the skills learned at Cornell to bear on day-to-day practice. That means attention to precedent, a focus on procedural detail, and careful preparation for hearings and negotiations. The work often involves balancing the demands of different courts and administrative forums across Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Steenhuis’s admissions to two state bars inform how she approaches matters for both individual and institutional clients. She watches changes in local rules and state statutes closely, and she coordinates filings and appearances where cross-border questions arise. This practical, state-level experience is valuable for clients whose legal issues are not confined to a single jurisdiction.

Outside the courtroom, her role at Shaheen & Gordon includes mentoring newer staff on research techniques and locally specific practice rules. She contributes to the firm’s internal discussions about case strategy and procedural management, helping to shape approaches that reflect current state law developments.

She maintains her practice at Shaheen & Gordon, P.A., handling matters that arise in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and advising clients on options available in both states.
