About Amanda

Amanda Jelks completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, earning a B.S. in 2005. She went on to the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and received her J.D. in 2010. Those years shaped her early interest in practical lawyering and community involvement.

Her first legal role came in 2009 when she served in a legal clerkship for Pinnacle Airlines. The experience offered a grounding in regulatory and operational issues that can arise in commercial settings. In 2010 she joined Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, PC as a lawyer. That move marked her transition into private practice and the day-to-day responsibilities of client representation and firm work.

In 2015 she opened Jelks Law, PLLC and took on the role of managing lawyer. Running a small firm has required attention to both casework and business operations. She has overseen matters that require coordination across state lines, helped manage client intake, and supervised support staff. Her practice is licensed in Tennessee and Georgia, and she maintains active memberships in both state bar communities.

Outside her practice, Jelks has been active in local and statewide legal organizations. She is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Chattanooga Bar Association since 2010, and she joined the Georgia Bar Association in 2018. She served as Communications Chair for the Southeast Tennessee Law Association for Women from 2014 to 2016, and she was involved with the American Inns of Court, Brock Cooper Chapter, from 2012 to 2014. Her nonprofit work has included board service for the Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute from 2018 to 2021 and for the United Way of Greater Chattanooga from 2022 to 2024.

Colleagues and clients describe her as hands-on in running firm matters and pragmatic in handling legal issues. She balances courtroom preparedness with attention to transactional details when necessary. Over the years, she has carried the administrative duties of a managing lawyer while remaining engaged in client representation.

She continues to lead Jelks Law, PLLC and practices under licenses in Tennessee and Georgia. Her practice focuses on serving individuals and organizations in those jurisdictions.
