About Amanda J
Amanda J Bynum built her legal life around courtrooms and classrooms. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona in 2009 after undergraduate studies concluded in 2006. The Arizona legal community has been the setting for her career ever since.
She began practice as an associate at Nesci & St Louis in 2010. That early experience in private practice lasted a short time. By 2012 she had moved to the Pima County Public Defender’s Office where she worked as a trial lawyer and training director. Those years in public defense deepened her trial experience and added a teaching role inside a busy government office.
Her career shifted toward legal education in 2016 when she joined the faculty at the University of Arizona Rogers College of Law as a professor of practice. She took on programs that connect students to fieldwork and to the bar exam. In 2017 she became director of externships and bar success. Two years later she assumed the broader role of director of bar and academic success. In those positions she oversaw clinical placements, developed curriculum for bar preparation, and worked directly with students preparing to sit for the bar.
In 2021 she launched AJB Law Office, LLC. The firm reflects both strands of her work: courtroom practice and educational support. She continues to live and work in Arizona, combining litigation experience with tutoring and training for law students and new lawyers.
Colleagues describe her as someone who moves easily between litigation tasks and program administration. She has led in-office training sessions, supervised junior attorneys, and taught courses that emphasize practical skills. Her time leading externship programs gave her repeated contact with local courts, judges, and public agencies. That exposure shaped how she mentors students and how she manages client matters.
She maintains memberships in professional organizations tied to the local legal community and to legal education. Her record shows a pattern of alternating between public service, academic leadership, and private practice. Today she operates AJB Law Office, LLC in Arizona, where her practice combines trial advocacy and client representation with law student coaching and bar-preparation services.
