About Amanda
Amanda Gordon trained first as a student of human behavior and later as a lawyer. She earned a B.S. in psychology from the University of Houston in 2009 and went on to receive her J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2016. The combination of psychology and law has shaped the way she approaches disputes and client conversations.
After law school she began practicing in Texas. Her early professional title was associate at McCathern in 2017, where she worked on matters typical for a small firm associate. She later joined Dykema Gossett PLLC and, in 2022, was listed there as a lawyer and mediator. Those roles gave her experience in both advocacy and alternative dispute resolution settings.
Her time as a mediator has become a notable thread in her career. Serving as a neutral in settlement talks requires a different pace than courtroom work. Gordon’s background in psychology is often mentioned as useful in mediations, where reading parties and reframing issues are part of the work. She has conducted sessions that bring parties together to explore options outside of trial.
