About Amanda Brooke
Amanda Brooke Shaffer trained at two well-regarded schools. She earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2005, majoring in political science and sociology and completing a sub-concentration in law, criminology and deviance. She returned to the Northeast for law school and received her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2012, where her coursework emphasized criminal law.
After law school, Shaffer joined The Shapiro Law Office, LLC as of-counsel in 2012. That early role placed her in a small-firm setting where attorneys handle a range of criminal matters and related litigation. The record shows her association with that firm and an early professional start in post-J.D. practice at a time when many new lawyers begin courtroom work and client representation.
Shaffer is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York, and she is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She maintains current memberships in the State Bar of New York and the New Jersey State Bar. Those admissions allow her to appear at the trial level in state courts and to handle federal appellate matters in the Second Circuit when cases proceed beyond the trial court.
Her academic choices reflect sustained interest in criminal law and its social context. At Quinnipiac, she pursued criminal law studies. Her undergraduate concentration brought an interdisciplinary view, pairing political science and sociology with studies in law, criminology and deviance. That background informs how she approaches factual development and legal analysis in criminal matters.
Colleagues and clients who work with Shaffer encounter an attorney who moves between research, court filings and client meetings. She has experience preparing pleadings, handling courtroom appearances and engaging in appellate briefing when cases extend to higher courts. Her practice touches both state and federal procedure because of her New Jersey, New York and Second Circuit admissions.
Shaffer continues her work at The Shapiro Law Office, LLC. She maintains active membership in the bars of both New York and New Jersey and practices criminal and related matters across those states and in the Second Circuit.
