About Amanda B.
Amanda B. Chesterfield earned her J.D. from Albany Law School in 2016 after completing a B.S. at The College at Brockport in 2013. She moved from a strong academic foundation into practice in New York. Her legal training at Albany Law School provided classroom experience in trial advocacy and statutory interpretation, and her undergraduate years at Brockport offered a broad liberal arts base that she draws on in client work.
She is admitted to practice in New York and serves as an associate lawyer at Burke & Casserly, P.C. In that role she handles a range of tasks common to associate attorneys: drafting pleadings and motions, conducting factual and legal research, preparing discovery, and counseling clients on procedural steps. She joined the firm as part of its associate cohort and works alongside more senior attorneys on matters brought to the firm.
Her day-to-day practice involves courtroom preparation and case management. She spends time reviewing case files, preparing memoranda, and supporting litigation strategy. She also appears in court and administrative hearings when the matter calls for it. Those activities require a steady command of written advocacy and a willingness to tackle complex procedural problems.
Chesterfield has been a member of the New York State Bar Association since 2017. That membership gives her access to continuing legal education and professional networks within the state. She participates in bar resources that help early-career lawyers stay current on changes in New York law, and she draws on those resources when advising clients and colleagues.
Colleagues describe her as methodical in her approach to casework. She tends to break issues into discrete steps, prioritize immediate procedural needs, and then map out longer-term legal tasks. That style suits the often fast-moving demands of litigation and administrative matters where timing and document control are crucial.
Outside the office she maintains professional development through seminars and bar programming. She keeps up with statutory updates and case law that affect the matters the firm handles. Her current practice focuses on representing clients in matters brought in New York state courts and in administrative proceedings throughout the state.
