About Allison

Allison Farrell built a nontraditional path to the law. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Montana in 1999 and a master’s in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2000. She then turned to the practice of law, receiving her J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law in 2009.

Before law school, Farrell worked as a reporter and editor. Early positions included Associate Editor at The Amherst Bee and reporting stints at The Daily Gazette and The Leader Herald. She covered local politics as a political reporter for Lee Newspapers in 2002 and later served as Public Relations Director at Glenville State College in 2005. That period sharpened her skills in reporting, document review and clear legal writing — abilities she carried into her legal career.

After law school, Farrell joined Steptoe & Johnson LLP in 2009. She later moved to Jenkins Fenstermaker, PLLC, becoming a member of that firm in 2018. Over the years she has appeared in both state and federal venues, holding memberships that allow practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia. She is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Colleagues describe her work as careful and text-driven. She applies the reporting instincts she developed earlier in her career to case preparation and motion practice. Farrell’s background in journalism contributes to thorough legal research and an emphasis on clear, concise briefs and courtroom presentation.

Her professional memberships reflect practice across two states. She is a member of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and of West Virginia. She maintains active admissions to the state high courts and to the federal trial courts that serve West Virginia.

Farrell practices from Jenkins Fenstermaker, PLLC, where she handles matters in state and federal courts in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Her current practice focuses on litigation and appellate work in those jurisdictions.
