About Alisa Michelle

Alisa Michelle Hoggatt built her academic foundation in politics and law before turning to specialized tax studies. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government/Pre-Law from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001. She then completed a Juris Doctor at the University of Houston in 2005 and returned to the University of Houston Law Center to obtain an LL.M. in Taxation in 2010.

Her early career moved into private practice in Texas. In 2008 she joined Shanks & Hauser, a firm that had previously operated as The Shanks Law Office. That position offered hands-on experience in client counseling and litigation work typical of small firm practice. Four years later she transitioned to Rapp & Krock, P.C., where she continued to expand her practice skills and professional network.

In 2019 she opened The Hoggatt Law Office, PLLC. The decision to launch a firm reflected an interest in shaping the delivery of legal services and applying the tax training she completed in 2010. Over time she has combined tax study with the practical demands of representing clients in a range of matters that intersect with tax questions.

Hoggatt is licensed to practice in Texas. Her professional path shows a steady progression from associate roles at established firms to managing her own practice. Colleagues and clients have noted that her training in taxation informs how she approaches case strategy and client advice, particularly on issues where tax consequences play a material role.

She has worked on matters that require translating complex tax concepts into practical options for clients. That work often involves analysis, negotiation, and drafting rather than courtroom theatrics. She brings the kind of technical detail that tax law requires and pairs it with the pragmatic problem-solving expected in everyday legal work.

Outside of casework, Hoggatt’s educational trajectory suggests continued engagement with tax scholarship and changing law, though public records of academic publications or teaching roles are not cited here. She remains based in Texas and handles matters that arise under state law and federal tax rules.

As of 2026 she practices through The Hoggatt Law Office, PLLC, where she concentrates on tax-related legal matters and other issues that commonly intersect with taxation in Texas.
