About Alexandra
Alexandra Macaluso entered law school intent on understanding the system from multiple angles. She earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she took on internships that exposed her to both trial and appellate work. Those early placements shaped how she approaches cases today.
While still in law school she interned in the Appellate Unit of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and later spent time in the Narcotics Unit at the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Those roles gave her hands-on experience reviewing records, drafting motions, and observing argument strategies. After graduation she served as a law clerk for the Hudson County judiciary, handling research and helping draft opinions for sitting judges.
Her next move was into prosecutorial work. In 2018 she joined the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecutor. The job put her in court, managing caseloads and coordinating with investigators. It also deepened her familiarity with case preparation, witness handling, and trial procedure. That prosecution background now informs how she evaluates evidence and negotiates on behalf of clients.
In 2020 she shifted to private practice as a criminal defense lawyer and associate at the Law Offices of Fusco and Macaluso. The change brought a different set of responsibilities. She began representing individuals charged with a range of offenses, from misdemeanors to serious felonies. Her experience on both sides of the docket helps her anticipate opposing strategies and test the strength of the state’s case.
Her work draws on trial and appellate exposure accumulated over several years. She has prepared briefs, conducted jury selection, and argued pretrial motions. She also maintains familiarity with post-conviction remedies and the mechanics of appeals, thanks to early appellate internships. Colleagues and court personnel describe her as practical and precise in court, and attentive when preparing case files.
Macaluso is licensed in New Jersey and New York and works out of the Law Offices of Fusco and Macaluso. She splits her time between court appearances and client consultations, advising on potential defenses, plea options, and case strategy. She currently practices criminal defense at the Law Offices of Fusco and Macaluso, representing clients in New Jersey and New York.
