About Alexandra Isabel
Alexandra Isabel Rengel is a founding partner at Mercado & Rengel, a boutique international law firm with offices in Miami, Florida; Boston, Massachusetts; and Madrid, Spain. With over 20 years of experience, she specializes in criminal defense, immigration law, and international law. She is admitted to practice in Florida, Massachusetts, and Spain. Ms. Rengel earned her Bachelor of Arts from Mount Holyoke College in 1996 and her Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 1999. She furthered her legal education with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Saint Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida.
A Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D.) from the same institution in 2013. Throughout her career, Ms. Rengel has handled complex cases in both state and federal courts, including multi-defendant financial fraud and first-degree murder cases. She has argued before the Florida Appeals Court, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Rengel is an adjunct professor at IE University in Madrid, teaching in the Master Program in International Law and Economy.
She has also lectured at institutions such as Suffolk University, Schiller International University, and Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid. In 2022, she served as a faculty member for the Advanced Course in Civil and Entrepreneurial Mediation and Civil and Commercial Mediation, offered by the government of Aragon, Spain. Ms. Rengel is the author of "Privacy in the 21st Century" (Martinus Nijhoff Publishers, 2013) and has contributed to various legal publications. She is a member of the Florida and Massachusetts Bars and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts of Massachusetts, the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, Washington D.C., New Jersey. The United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh and First Circuits.
Internationally, she is admitted to practice law in Spain by the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Madrid. In her community, Ms. Rengel serves as the Vice-President of Fundación María Madrid, an organization dedicated to supporting underprivileged children in Spain. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and the International Bar Association. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is committed to providing comprehensive legal services to her clients.
