About Alexander R
Alexander R Vail earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from the University of Miami in 2007 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2014. During law school he gained hands-on experience as a judicial extern for the Honorable Adalberto Jordan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and through placements with the University of Miami School of Law Immigration Clinic and the Broward County Office of the Public Defender.
After law school, Vail worked in federal immigration adjudication. In 2014 he served as a lawyer advisor in the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge at the Executive Office for Immigration Review, part of the U.S. Department of Justice. That role exposed him to courtroom procedure and the mechanics of immigration hearings. He then moved into criminal appeals work, joining the Appeals Unit of the Criminal Division at the Clark County Office of the District Attorney in 2016, where he served as a law clerk and later as a lawyer.
Vail shifted into private practice and defense work in Nevada beginning in 2017. He joined the Las Vegas Defense Group as an associate and later took on an of-counsel role there. In 2018 he began operating his own firm as the managing lawyer of the Law Office of Alexander R. Vail, L.L.C. He later took on additional roles, including managing lawyer at Becker & Vail, L.L.C., and an of-counsel position at Eric Palacios & Associates, LTD, both noted in 2021.
Outside the courtroom, Vail’s background includes military service. In 2008 he served as a platoon leader in a quartermaster unit with the Florida Army National Guard. He also maintains professional ties in immigration law through membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a connection he has held since 2017.
Vail is licensed to practice in Florida and Nevada and has combined public-sector and private-practice work that spans immigration adjudication, criminal appeals and defense representation. He has balanced courtroom work, appellate writing and law office management in his career. He currently focuses his practice on immigration and criminal defense matters at the Law Office of Alexander R. Vail, L.L.C.
