About Alexander J
Alexander J Kemeny graduated from McGill University in 2005 and earned his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Camden in 2009. He completed his legal training at a time when New Jersey courts were grappling with significant procedural and substantive changes. The combination of a Canadian undergraduate education and an American law degree helped shape a methodical approach to legal work.
Kemeny is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He maintains memberships in the Middlesex County Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Those memberships reflect a continuing engagement with professional developments across both state and federal practice.
Early in his career he gravitated toward courtroom practice and federal filings, appearing in trial courts and in appellate proceedings. He has experience presenting matters in the District of New Jersey and arguing before the Third Circuit. His courtroom work is combined with litigation preparation and the drafting of briefs and motions for matters that rise to federal review. He also handles matters that originate in state court and may transition into federal litigation.
Professionally, Kemeny has taken part in the programming and committees offered through the American Bar Association and through local bar groups. He participates in bar activities that aim to improve procedural understanding and to keep practitioners current on developments in case law. Those affiliations provide regular exposure to peer review and continuing legal education.
He is based at Kemeny, LLC, where he represents clients who require advocacy in both state and federal forums. Colleagues describe him as someone who prepares thoroughly for court dates and who emphasizes clear written advocacy. He balances litigation tasks with the administrative and strategic demands of running a small law office.
Clients and other attorneys encounter him most often in the New Jersey legal community, but his admissions allow him to take matters into New York courts and to pursue appeals in the Third Circuit when necessary. He continues to practice law through Kemeny, LLC, focusing his work on matters arising in the jurisdictions where he is admitted.
