About Alexander
Alexander Gilewicz studied history before turning to law. He earned a B.A. in history from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and took his law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law, completing his J.D. in 2015. Those academic steps led him from the classroom to a courtroom career centered in Florida.
His professional life began before law school. He served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in 2005. That early experience in uniform preceded a move into public defense after law school. In 2015 he joined the Office of the Public Defender for Florida’s Seventh Judicial Circuit as an assistant public defender. There he handled criminal matters for defendants who could not afford private counsel.
After a stretch in the public defender’s office, he moved into private practice. In 2017 he worked at the Law Office of C. Crawford Pierce. The following year he was an associate at Conroy Simberg. In 2019 he practiced at the Law Office of Jared M. Wilkerson, PLLC. Those positions added civil and private criminal defense work to his courtroom experience.
Gilewicz is licensed to practice in Florida. His memberships reflect an interest in criminal law and professional engagement. Since 2020 he has been part of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Jacksonville Bar Association, and the Florida Bar Criminal Law Section. He also joined the Federalist Society in 2020.
He now serves at the Law Offices of Kate Mesic, P.A., where he continues to handle criminal matters. His background combines trial experience from his time as an assistant public defender with work in private firms. Colleagues and clients see an attorney familiar with courtroom procedure and the rhythm of criminal cases.
Gilewicz’s practice involves courtroom representation, case preparation and the types of litigation tasks that follow from criminal defense work in Florida. He has moved steadily from military service to public defense and then into private practice. He focuses on criminal defense in Florida.
