About Alex
Alex Kosyla earned his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 2015. He entered the profession at a time many young lawyers take a running start into practice. Kosyla built practical experience while still in law school and carried that momentum into his early career.
During law school he worked in clinical and nonprofit settings that shaped his practical outlook. He was an intern at the Fair Housing Clinic, where he assisted with intake and research on housing discrimination claims. He also spent time with the Environmental Law and Policy Center, contributing to research and case preparation on environmental regulatory matters. Those placements offered regular contact with clients and a steady stream of procedural challenges.
Immediately after law school Kosyla became a partner at Leone & Kosyla Law. The listing of him as a partner in 2015 indicates a fast transition from student to practitioner. At the firm he has handled a range of matters and taken on responsibilities typical of a small firm partner, including client counseling, litigation drafting and court appearances.
Kosyla is admitted to appear before multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals. His jurisdictions include the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Circuits. That breadth of appellate admission reflects work that reaches beyond a single federal district and requires familiarity with varied appellate procedures and precedent across circuits.
Outside the courtroom his résumé includes professional memberships. He maintains active ties to legal associations that support continuing education and networking for lawyers. Those memberships are part of a routine professional life that mixes casework with ongoing legal learning.
Colleagues describe him as steady in court and attentive to case details. His trajectory — clinical work, nonprofit internships, then partnership at a private firm — has given him exposure to both public-interest matters and private litigation practice. He has handled intake, research, drafting and appellate filings, and those tasks recur in his daily work.
He now practices at Leone & Kosyla Law, LLC, where he works on matters that reach the federal appellate level and draws on earlier experience in fair housing and environmental law. His current practice centers on appellate work in the circuits where he is admitted.
