About Alex
Alex Gordon has built a career that moves between public service and private practice. He earned a B.S. from James Madison University in 1991, studying public administration and political science. He then completed a J.D. at The University of Georgia School of Law in 1994. Those years set the groundwork for a practice informed by both policy and procedure.
His first post-law school role came in 1994 as an Assistant County Lawyer in the Charlotte County Government’s Office of the County Lawyer. That early experience placed him inside a local government legal office during the formative stage of his career. Three years later he took the next step into private practice, becoming a partner in 1997 at the Law Office of Alexander J. Gordon.
In 2000 he returned to government service, joining the Fairfax Office of the Public Defender as an Assistant Public Defender and later serving as a Senior Assistant Public Defender. He spent those years in a courtroom-facing role that involved representing clients within the public defense system. The position exposed him to a heavy caseload and to the procedural demands of trial work in a busy jurisdiction.
By 2006 he had taken on a leadership role as a partner at The Gordon Law Office P.C. His career includes work in both county government and public defense, and in private firms. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, Georgia and Florida. Those multi-jurisdictional admissions allow him to advise clients on matters that cross state lines and to coordinate work across different legal systems.
Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who has handled a range of assignments in public and private settings. He has moved between advisory roles for government entities and advocacy in courtrooms. Today he practices at The Gordon Law Office P.C., representing clients across Virginia, Georgia and Florida. His current practice focuses on matters spanning those three jurisdictions.
