About Alex
Alex Berger built a career that moves between courtrooms and small law offices. He combines years in public service with long stretches in private practice. The result is a resume that reflects varied legal work across multiple states.
Berger studied history and philosophy as an undergraduate, earning a B.S. from Illinois State University in 2004. He went on to pursue graduate training at the University of Chicago, earning an M.S. in Social Service Administration in 2012. He also holds a J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, completed in 2012.
His early work came outside a traditional law firm. In 2002 he worked as an abstrator at Service Abstract, a role that exposed him to title and real-property records. After law school he joined Berger & Buchmeyer as of counsel in 2012. He later served as an associate at RT Cox Law Office beginning in 2014. Two firms named him partner in 2016: Berger Law, PC and the 307 Law Office. Two years later voters in Weston County elected him to serve as the county’s prosecuting lawyer, an office he assumed in 2019.
Berger is licensed to practice in Iowa, Wyoming and Michigan. That multi-jurisdictional standing has shaped how he allocates time between private clients and public obligations. His work has included courtroom appearances, advisory matters and routine office practice. He has experience in matters that arise at the county level as well as in private disputes and transactional settings.
Colleagues describe Berger as steady and direct in court. He has handled the administrative demands of running small firms while taking on the public-facing role of county prosecutor. His twin roles have required shifting daily between client files and court dockets, and between preventive legal work and adversarial proceedings.
Berger maintains a presence in both Berger Law, PC and the 307 Law Office, including an office location in Newcastle. He continues to balance elected duties with private practice, dividing time among the three states where he holds licenses. He currently practices at Berger Law, PC and the 307 Law Office, handling a mix of public and private matters.
