About Alden

Alden Yako practices law in both Arizona and Minnesota. He brought an early interest in government and public affairs to his academic studies, then moved into criminal justice and law. His trajectory shows a steady build from undergraduate political science to a graduate degree in criminal justice and then to a J.D.

He graduated from Arizona State University West in 2008 with a B.A. in political science. That foundation led him to the University of Phoenix, where he completed a Master of Science in Criminal Justice in 2011. He earned his law degree from Arizona Summit Law School in 2014. While at law school he completed basic mediation training, an early sign that he was preparing for work that might include dispute resolution as well as courtroom practice.

Following law school, Yako entered practice across two state systems. He is admitted to practice in Arizona and Minnesota. Those admissions allow him to handle matters in very different legal environments: a large southwestern state and a Midwestern jurisdiction with its own procedural and substantive contours. He has maintained professional ties through the American Bar Association since 2017.

His background in criminal justice informs much of his approach to cases. The combination of a graduate degree in that field and legal training gives him familiarity with the intersection of policy, enforcement, and courtroom procedure. The mediation training he completed suggests an interest in resolving disputes outside of trial when circumstances allow.

Colleagues describe him as methodical and practical in handling documents and client meetings. He tends to break complex issues into discrete steps and to prepare thoroughly for hearings and negotiations. That preparation shows in how he sets out timelines and evidentiary needs early in a matter, and in how he adapts strategy as new facts emerge.

Outside the courtroom he maintains memberships in professional organizations that provide continuing education and networking. His ongoing participation in the American Bar Association is one documented connection. He keeps a steady focus on professional development and on staying current with both criminal justice trends and procedural changes in the states where he is licensed.

Yako currently practices law in Arizona and Minnesota, handling matters that draw on his criminal justice education and his mediation training, and he continues to maintain active professional membership and training activities.
