Alan Richard Brayton is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1977. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Brayton is a founding and senior partner at Brayton Purcell LLP, a law firm located at 222 Rush Landing Rd, Novato, California. He has been practicing law for over forty-eight years, serving clients throughout California and other jurisdictions.
Mr. Brayton earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1976. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the United States Air Force Academy, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1971. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of California, Los Angeles, obtained in 1972. During his time at Berkeley Law, he was recognized for his academic achievements and commitment to justice.
Mr. Brayton concentrates his practice in the areas of asbestos litigation, toxic torts, personal injury, products liability, medical malpractice, Jones Act, FELA, and consumer law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving exposure to hazardous substances, defective products, and workplace injuries. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Brayton has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Marin, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also appeared before the Hawaii state courts and the Court of Military Appeals. Prior to founding his own firm, he served as a judge advocate in the United States Air Force, gaining valuable experience in military law.
Mr. Brayton is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Consumer Attorneys of California, where he serves on the Board of Governors, and the Public Justice Foundation, where he is a member and past president. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Marin County Trial Lawyers Association, the San Francisco County Trial Lawyers Association, and the Marin County Bar Association. Additionally, he is a Master in the American Inns of Court and serves on the Board of Directors for Bay Area Legal Aid (BayLegal). He has been recognized with the Pursuit of Justice Award from the American Bar Association's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section for his outstanding contributions to access to justice.
