About Alan

Alan Palma completed his legal studies at the University of Miami School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2008. He earlier took an undergraduate course of study in philosophy at American University, where he received a B.A. in 2001. Those academic steps set a pattern: careful reasoning, attention to argument and an interest in court process.

After law school, Palma entered practice in Florida. He was admitted to the Florida bar in 2009 and remains a member of the Florida State Bar. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, allowing him to handle appeals that arise from federal cases in the region.

Palma’s early years as an attorney were spent in two Florida firms. He joined Lian & Associates, P.A. as an associate in 2009. That role placed him in the day-to-day work of a small to mid-size practice, where he took on research, drafting and client-facing responsibilities. In 2011 he moved to Berk Merchant & Sims, PLC, again as an associate. Those positions provided courtroom exposure and work across multiple phases of litigation, from pleadings through motion practice.

Colleagues describe Palma as methodical in his preparation and deliberate in court. He handles written advocacy and hearings, and he has worked on matters that proceed in both state trial courts and federal forums. His admissions to the Florida bar and the Eleventh Circuit reflect that mix of state and federal practice.

Palma’s resume does not list law school honors or judicial clerkships. His publicly available professional record centers on practice at private firms and service as a licensed attorney in Florida. He has kept a steady presence in the state bar since his 2009 admission, a sign of continued engagement in the legal community.

Today Palma is based in Florida and maintains his license in the state. He represents clients in matters that may require work in state courts or federal appeals in the Eleventh Circuit. He currently practices law in Florida, handling matters in both state and federal courts.
