About Adam

Adam Lusthaus built a legal foundation across three institutions. He earned a B.A. in economics and psychology from Dartmouth College in 2003. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2006 and later completed an LL.M. in estate planning and tax at the University of Miami School of Law in 2010.

Those academic choices set the direction of his work. The LL.M. provided advanced training in estate and tax matters. The combination of economics, psychology and law informs how he frames client problems and structures plans. He is admitted to practice in both Florida and New York, which shapes the regional scope of his practice.

Lusthaus has spent his career advising on matters that bridge personal planning and tax law. He works on estate planning documents, trusts, and strategies intended to manage wealth transfer and tax exposure. He counsels individuals and families on wills, durable powers, and trust arrangements designed to meet long-term goals. He also assists fiduciaries and executors during probate and trust administration.

His work involves drafting and reviewing agreements and instruments, and preparing plans that account for state and federal tax rules. He handles gift and estate tax planning and provides guidance on how changing tax law affects existing plans. In practice, that means balancing legal form, tax consequences and practical administration to try to reduce future disputes and complications for beneficiaries.

Clients come from a range of backgrounds, including family-owned businesses and individuals with complex asset mixes. He often works alongside accountants and financial advisors to coordinate legal documents with tax filings and financial plans. That collaborative approach helps align estate documents with broader financial goals and compliance needs.

Lusthaus maintains a practice that spans Florida and New York, advising clients on both planning and post-death administration. He continues to refine the technical side of estate and tax law while addressing the practical questions clients bring to the table. He currently focuses on estate planning and tax law.
