About Aaron Thoreau
Aaron Thoreau Penrod entered law after completing a bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University and earning his J.D. from Duquesne University. Those two institutions framed his early academic life, where he studied legal principles and developed an interest in court practice and procedure. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the Federal Circuit, enabling him to handle matters at both the state and certain federal appellate levels.
Penrod began his legal career in private practice, serving as an associate at Helmer, Conley & Kasselman, P.A. He then worked as an associate at Barry, Corrado & Grassi, P.C. Those roles exposed him to a steady docket of contested matters and client counseling, and they offered him repeated courtroom work and case preparation responsibilities. Colleagues from those years recall his methodical approach to legal research and his willingness to take on trial tasks as they arose.
He later established his own firm, Penrod Law Office, LLC, where he acts as owner and operator. The firm maintains a presence in multiple New Jersey communities, including offices in Bridgeton, Freehold, Hackensack, Somers Point, Turnersville, Vineland, Woodstown and Willingboro. Managing multiple offices has required him to balance client work with the administrative demands of running a small firm. He handles case intake, client meetings, and the direction of litigation from these locations.
Outside the office, Penrod maintains an active role in professional organizations. He holds membership in county bar associations across Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Atlantic and Ocean counties. He is also a member of the New Jersey Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice, and he participates in the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Judicial Appointments Committee. His involvement extends to civil liberties advocacy as the American Civil Liberties Union’s pro-bono representative and to community legal circles through the New Jersey Hispanic Bar Association.
Those memberships reflect a practice that spans courtroom work, appellate matters and public engagement. He is admitted to the Federal Circuit, which allows him to pursue appeals in that forum when appropriate. His day-to-day work combines client representation across New Jersey courts and federal matters that fall within the firm’s scope. He currently practices through Penrod Law Office, LLC, serving clients across New Jersey and representing matters before the Federal Circuit.
