About Aaron
Aaron Richter built a foundation in economics before turning to law. He earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Arizona, then took his legal training to Valparaiso University School of Law where he received his J.D. He later completed an LL.M. in Tax at the University of Washington School of Law, adding specialized study to his legal credentials.
After law school and advanced tax study, Richter set up his own practice. In 2009 he opened what became the Law Office of Aaron P. Richter and later practiced under the Law Office of Aaron Richter, PLLC. He is admitted to practice in Nevada, Maryland and Washington, and he is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. Those multi-jurisdictional admissions reflect a practice that often crosses state lines and deals with federal tax procedures.
His work centers on tax law and the disputes that arise around it. That includes representing clients in tax controversy matters and handling petitions before the U.S. Tax Court. He also advises on tax planning and compliance issues when clients seek to resolve problems before they become litigation. His academic background in economics and tax law informs how he approaches assessments, audits, and the procedural steps necessary in contested matters.
Richter’s practice serves individuals, small businesses and other taxpayers who face audits, collection actions or deficiency notices. He handles communications with tax authorities, prepares filings needed to contest assessments, and represents clients in hearings and court proceedings. The combination of a J.D. and an LL.M. in Tax positions him to address technical tax questions as well as the procedural and strategic elements of disputes.
Over the years his office has managed a range of state and federal tax issues. The practice has remained compact and client-centered in structure, focused on direct representation rather than large-firm bureaucracy. That allows him to manage cases personally and keep a steady role in court appearances when matters proceed to litigation.
He currently practices through the Law Office of Aaron Richter, PLLC and concentrates his work on tax controversy, tax planning, and representation before state and federal tax authorities.
