About A. Conrad Bareford

A. Conrad Bareford III earned his J.D. from Regent University School of Law in 2005. He went on to build a regional practice grounded in litigation and insolvency work, and over the years he has gained credentials to appear in several federal and state forums. His legal education set the foundation for a practice that spans local courthouse matters and federal filings.

Early in his career Bareford secured the credentials to practice in Virginia and in the federal courts that serve the region. He is authorized to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the Fourth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. His certifications include admission to the Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and to the Supreme Court of Virginia.

He formed Conrad Bareford, PLLC and serves as its owner. The firm operates from the Historic Courthouse in Mathews, where he maintains a small office that handles matters for individuals and businesses across the Middle Peninsula. Over time his caseload has combined bankruptcy filings, federal practice and criminal defense work in state and federal settings.

Bareford has been active in local bar and civic institutions. He has held leadership roles in the Middle Peninsula Bar Association, including serving as its president; records indicate service as president in 2014 and a listing that shows a presidency beginning in 2009. He has served on the board of directors for Head Start – PCDC, and on the board of the Mathews Lions Charity Foundation. His association memberships include the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has been listed as an officer of Head Start since 2015 and of the Mathews Lions Charity Foundation since 2011.

Those who work with Bareford describe a lawyer who balances courtroom work with community involvement. He appears regularly in the local courthouse and in federal filings, switching between docket practice and direct client work. That blend of community ties and federal credentials has shaped his daily practice.

He remains based in Mathews and continues to manage Conrad Bareford, PLLC from an office at the Historic Courthouse. His current practice handles bankruptcy cases, federal court matters and criminal defense in state and federal courts.
