About Zachary Lee
Zachary Lee Newland graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2013. He entered the profession at a time when litigation was pushing into new corners of technology and commerce. Law school provided a foundation in procedure and advocacy that he has used in courtrooms across more than one state.
His early career put him in litigation teams handling contested matters. In 2018 he took a senior litigation counsel role at Brandon Sample, P.L.C., where he handled pretrial preparation and motion practice. That position led to a similar post in 2020 at Jeremy Gordon PLLC. There he worked on trial strategy and client counseling, and he stepped into more complex case management responsibilities.
In 2022 he launched his own practice as principal lawyer of Newland Legal PLLC. Running a small firm meant shifting from being part of a litigation team to overseeing the entire case life cycle. He supervises filings, leads depositions, and represents clients in hearings. He also manages administrative duties that come with running a firm.
Newland is admitted to practice law in Texas and in Colorado. He has argued motions and appeared in chambers across those jurisdictions. His courtroom experience includes work in state and federal forums. The through-line in his career is litigation—preparing cases for trial, drafting dispositive motions, and handling discovery disputes.
Colleagues describe his courtroom manner as straightforward. He tends to pare back arguments to their essentials and emphasizes procedural readiness. That approach reflects his training and the years spent in senior litigation positions before starting his own firm. He has handled matters at different stages, from initial complaint through dispositive motion practice, and he brings that continuity to client matters today.
Outside the courtroom he has taken on the responsibilities typical of a small-firm principal. He advises clients on litigation strategy, negotiates settlements when appropriate, and coordinates with experts and opposing counsel. His day-to-day work mixes trial preparation with client communication and case administration.
Since founding Newland Legal PLLC in 2022, he has continued to practice in the areas of civil litigation that put his trial and motion experience to use. He handles cases in both Texas and Colorado and maintains an active litigation docket focused on resolving disputes through trial or negotiated resolution.
