About Zachary C
Zachary C Ashby blends academic rigor with courtroom work. He arrived at law after an extended course of study that began in the humanities and moved into legal practice. His path through higher education set a different tone for a family law attorney.
Ashby earned a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from Brigham Young University in 2007. He then completed a Ph.D. in Iberian and Latin American Cultures at Stanford University in 2013. After returning to Brigham Young University for law school, he received his J.D. in 2015. That combination of humanities scholarship and legal training shapes how he reads cases and communicates with clients.
He began practicing in 2015 under the name Ashby Law. Five years later he joined Pacific Northwest Family Law as a partner. He is licensed to practice in Washington. Those years in practice have moved him from a sole-practitioner setting into a regional firm environment where he works alongside other family law practitioners.
Ashby’s practice centers on family law matters. He applies a methodical approach to case preparation and client counseling. He emphasizes clear written work and careful analysis of legal issues. Colleagues note that he brings the habits of a scholar to everyday practice: attention to detail, extensive legal research, and a preference for reasoned argument.
Outside the office he has remained active in the legal community. He has served as a member of the Family Law Executive Committee of the Washington State Bar Association since 2019. He is also a member of the Benton Franklin County Bar Association, a connection he has maintained since 2015. For a time he participated in Rotary International from 2018 to 2019. Those memberships reflect an interest in professional exchange and local legal networks.
Clients and colleagues describe him as deliberate and articulate in hearings and negotiations. He publishes or presents less frequently than some academics, but his academic credentials inform his courtroom style and client counseling. He continues to practice in Washington at Pacific Northwest Family Law, where his work centers on family law matters.
